Jonakin Creek Hunting Preserve is a private hunting preserve in the beautiful rolling hills of Virginia's
Blue Ridge Mountains. We are dedicated to promoting wildlife through habitat improvement and sound
wildlife management practices. We offer various hunting opportunities such as upland hunting, deer
hunting, waterfowl hunting and turkey hunting.
With regard to upland hunting, we offer quality hunting with your dogs or with a guide and dogs provided
by out staff. We take great pride in the quality of our pointing dogs and strive to give you the best
bird hunting experience possible. Since our establishment in 1990 we have tailored our agricultural
practices to enhance feeding and nesting areas for wildlife. As a result we now have a growing quail
population as well as high quality liberated birds.
Waterfowl hunting in our area has been very good in recent years largely due to the efforts of Ducks
Unlimited and other conservation groups. We offer guided waterfowl hunts over rivers, streams and
irrigation ponds. Also, the wild turkey population has flourished here, so we are able to offer guided
hunts during the spring gobbler season.
In 1997 we implemented a quality deer management program, along with neighboring landowners, in order
to control our deer population and promote antler growth. The overall size and body condition of our
deer herd has improved as well as antler size. Our deer hunts are limited to deer club members only.
We normally stay full, but offer a waiting list.
Here at Jonakin Creek Hunting Preserve we strive to have a comprehensive wildlife management plan that
benefits all wildlife present, so we may offer you, the hunter, a quality hunting experience. Whether
you want to lounge around our restored 19th century log lodge and have a relaxing half day quail hunt or
roam the hills and hollows in pursuit of a trophy whitetail buck, we can accommodate you.
